- It has now been two weeks since we spent four wonderful days on the inland waterway vessel. We look back fondly on our trip and all the experiences we had. In particular, we would like to thank everyone on board for the warm welcome, the pleasant, relaxed atmosphere and the joint excursions to Bremen. We also enjoyed our time on the bridge, from where we were able to observe so much and really get a feel for life on a riverboat. It was very interesting and we felt completely at ease. We wish...

If you live in Hanover and often cycle along the Mittelland Canal, you’re used to the sight of these cargo ships and push-boats making their way steadily forward. And the thought occurs to you: I’d really like to travel on a ship like that, along the great rivers and canals of Europe. Is that possible?
That’s how I came across the Westropa. A picture in the Peiffer Cargo Ship...
>> more... Hello Mrs Pfeiffer,
I returned safely yesterday from a wonderful trip.
Route: Nienburg/Weser to Groningen. It was simply brilliant! I took in so many impressions and felt welcome on board with the barge captain and his wife from the very first moment.
I’d like to thank you and your husband for arranging the trip!Warm regards – from my wife too.
- Hello Ms Pfeiffer,
We have returned from our cargo ship cruise safe and sound, and full of wonderful, lasting memories.
Geeske and Bud looked after us so well and anticipated our every need.
As well as passing through many locks, we also had the chance to experience a ship lift and an inclined ship lift. It was truly impressive.
We were treated to excellent, hearty meals; nothing was lacking, and every day we were served fresh, home-baked bread from Geeske.
At the end of our...

Thank you very much for your message. My trip on the MS Cigno Minore went perfectly from start to finish – from A (getting in touch with Marlies) to Z (saying goodbye to Marlies and Hilfred).
I was able to board at the Gelsenkirchen lock on Monday, 25 September 2023, and left the ship yesterday near Osnabrück after some exciting, beautiful and eventful days.
Many thanks to you and your team for organising this unforgettable trip.
Kind regards
We are now back home and can look back on a wonderful, relaxing cruise in glorious weather. Anton and Gisela S. welcomed us so warmly and treated us to such delicious food that, before long, we were having very personal and meaningful conversations. This trip far exceeded our expectations! Many thanks to you too for arranging it.
Kind regards, and we hope to see you again soon,
- Dear Ms Pfeiffer,
We’re back from a wonderful trip. After the shock of finding out that the boat we’d booked couldn’t sail, you managed to find us a replacement. We were very grateful for that. We immediately took the boat and its crew to our hearts. We felt very welcome and were able to experience a week of authentic life on board. In the evenings, the food was sumptuous, and Geeske baked fresh bread every day. Bud enjoyed sharing his experiences with us. The route was varied and the...

Unfortunately, it’s already been over a week since I returned from my trip, and I wanted to thank you once again for arranging such an eventful and wonderful cargo ship voyage.
It’s difficult to describe or explain a holiday like this to family and friends, as you really have to experience it for yourself to understand this kind of travel.
I haven’t felt this relaxed, impressed and ‘unhurried’ after a holiday for a long time… thank...
>> more... - Hello Pfeiffer family,
My trip was a cracking one.
I’d expected to travel up and down the Rhine, to Rotterdam and God knows where else. Instead, we chugged back and forth between Duisburg and Dortmund. I’d have been quicker on my bike, haha.
Between 5 am and 8 am, the route is absolutely lovely. Fog, sunrise, sleepy herons, fresh air and peace and quiet. After that, it wasn’t quite as great – it stinks and is quite dusty. But the locks are really exciting, especially the one...
>> more... - Hello Ms Weber,
I just wanted to get in touch briefly.
We’re back and it was a fantastic trip.
Contrary to the original plan – after I’d first been in touch with the ship’s owner – we didn’t actually board in Antwerp until Tuesday (rather than on Saturday). From there, we travelled to Rotterdam, Moerdijk, Duisburg, Mannheim and back.
During our trip, it really became very clear just how many unforeseen circumstances can alter any initial plans and why it is,...

Dear Ms Weber,
I’ve now been back from the ship for a few days and have nothing but good things to say.
It was a fantastic trip through northern France and Belgium, from St Germain-la-Ville to Herent.
If you want to experience a cargo ship on narrow canals with lots of locks and even tunnels, whilst enjoying the stunning natural surroundings and the experience of taking things at a leisurely pace, then this is absolutely the right choice.
But the very...
