We are often asked what has led us, as absolute “inland people”, to arrange freighter voyages of all things. Wuppertal really has no direct access to the sea (position 51° 13′ N, 7° 04′ E). But we thought: “What we like, surely other people will like as well. We can’t be the only ones who are connected with seafaring, but don’t need the hype on a cruise ship”.
Freighter voyages are voyages requiring a lot of advice and are very different from normal package holidays. It is therefore particularly important for good advice not to travel “with your finger on the globe”, but to know as many ships and ports as possible from personal experience.
This is also the reason why we make and have made many freighter voyages ourselves.
By now we know more than 200 vessels from our own experience and many ports, such as
Helsinki, St. Petersburg, Kotka, Leixoes, Lisbon, Genoa, Istanbul, Alexandria, Casablanca, Miami, Martinique, St. Lucia, Barbados, Callao, Valparaiso, Santos, Buenos Aires, Montevideo and many more. (In total, we have now visited more than 220 of the ports listed in our schedule).
Many thousands of passengers have benefited from this experience in the years since our agency was founded in 1982, and this is how our motto is understood: Expertise from Experience.
Maybe this is one of the reasons why we have a lot of “repeaters”, some of whom have already driven “with us” 15 times.
We take great pleasure in arranging freighter voyages, but we also advise against it if we have the feeling that a customer would not be happy with this characteristic way of traveling.
