Message from Mr. St:

Hello Ms Weber,

Here is some brief feedback on my journey from Hamburg to South Africa.

The voyage was truly an extraordinary experience – so very different from travelling on a container ship.

In particular, the loading operations and everything that came on board – including around 150 second-hand lorries from England, fertiliser, potash, machine parts, steel plates and, alongside the containers, a 42-metre-long mast for a luxury yacht in Cape Town.

Another interesting experience was the Bay of Biscay in force 8 winds – two sleepless nights due to the rolling motion; fortunately, I don’t suffer from seasickness.

After some initial reserve on the captain’s part, this changed significantly after a week.

We had several hours of interesting conversations on the bridge.

After two weeks, off the coast of Africa (Senegal), we had the usual barbecue, which gave us the chance to really get to know the rest of the crew (we’d already met the officers at mealtimes, of course).

At this point, I’d like to express my heartfelt thanks once again to Captain Janusc, the steward Jazcek, the chief engineer for his very detailed tour of the engine room, and of course the cook, for his consistently tasty and generous Polish dishes.

Not to mention the shore leave in Antwerp, Leixões and Walvis Bay.

Swakopmund and the Namibian countryside in particular, and of course Cape Town with Table Mountain (three days without the famous tablecloth), left an unforgettable impression.

All in all, a fantastic experience that has left me wanting more of the sea.

Once again, my thanks to the entire Pfeiffer team for their excellent care.
