I\u2019d like to give you a quick update on my trip in May. It was a wonderful experience; for me, the days at sea in the sunshine were the highlight. The ship is kept in superb condition, thanks \u2013 according to the captain \u2013 to the boatswain and his crew. One Saturday, they hosed down and scrubbed the entire rear section \u2013 where the cabins and the bridge are located \u2013 from top to bottom. Inside, too, the ship was always spotless, and the Filipino chef kept conjuring up delicious meals.
\nThe shore excursions were limited to Gran Canaria, Tenerife and C\u00e1diz, but, in my opinion at least, you shouldn\u2019t book a trip like this for the sake of the ports of call. The sailing experience and the open sea are what really matter.
\nA handy tip for anyone thinking of going: from the Hamburg-Veddel Westseite S-Bahn station, there\u2019s a bus (no. 856) that goes as far as Kamerunweg. From the bus stop, it\u2019s perhaps a 500-metre walk to the terminal gate. Incidentally, they\u2019re happy there if travellers bring their own high-visibility vest, though the very friendly security staff are also happy to lend one out.
