Here\u2019s a brief report on our latest cargo ship voyage. The full travelogue\u2014a diary\u2014will follow once the photos have been added.<\/p>\n
The voyage, which lasted over 21 days, was a real adventure and probably the longest one we\u2019ve ever taken. We set off again from Hamburg, where we boarded across from the Elbphilharmonie.<\/p>\n
First, we headed to Rotterdam; we hadn\u2019t been to that huge port before, and the harbor tour was a great experience. From there, we went to Ferrol, in northern Spain, where we used the drone for the second time.<\/p>\n
After that, we continued on to the Canary Islands, enjoying many beautiful days at sea with fantastic weather. We savored the wonderful weather on the Atlantic and the very calm seas. We hadn\u2019t expected that at all.<\/p>\n
The first port in the Canary Islands was Las Palmas. I had imagined the harbor to be smaller. We arrived very late at night, so going ashore wasn\u2019t possible. But the nighttime photos made up for it.<\/p>\n
That same night, we continued on to the neighboring island, home to Spain\u2019s highest mountain, the Pico del Teide. Although we couldn\u2019t see the mountain, we were able to enjoy a wonderful shore excursion. We decided against visiting the city and hiked in the opposite direction to a fishing port. Along the way, we were able to take many beautiful photos\u2014again with the drone.<\/p>\n
In the afternoon, we set sail north again at 3:00 p.m.; our next port was C\u00e1diz, Spain\u2019s oldest city and the highlight of our trip. As we entered the harbor, we could already see the magnificent cathedral.
\nThe timing for a shore excursion was perfect\u2014we had the whole day, and it\u2019s less than a 10-minute walk to downtown. I had made a plan, and the drone was sent up into the air as well.<\/p>\n
We took stunning photos from the city\u2019s tallest tower and also toured the cathedral from the inside. You\u2019ll be able to see all of this clearly in the upcoming film. It would go beyond the scope of this post to describe it all here.
\nVia Huelva and Ferrol, we headed toward Tilbury, the port of London. We hadn\u2019t planned a shore excursion there, but the cruise on the Thames was also very interesting. We were able to enjoy both the inbound and outbound trips in broad daylight. We\u2019ve never been away from home for so long or traveled so far\u2014for us, it was a trip of superlatives. Now we\u2019re back home and getting started on editing the film.<\/p>\n
